If a Hummingbird Sees Red in Your Garden, Move Away from the Nectar Feeder! Never stand in the way of a hummingbird and its source of fuel! These nimble flyers can really turn on a dime. A friend and I once stumbled upon a pair of warring male hummingbirds in a large public garden (they were fighting over flowers, of course). Without skipping a beat or slowing down, both combatants zipped around my friend in perfect unison, taking their (private and interrupted) battle elsewhere.
