It's been said that humor has a grain of truth in it (how many grains is a matter of interpretation). A voracious reader of over 1,000 books in my youth--spanning an eclectic range of genres, from sci fi and (true) fantasy to Shakespearean dramas and autobiographies--has created a wit that alternates between slapstick and tongue-and-cheek, and a sense of humor that is perversely but cleanly twisted.
