Sanderlings are tiny -- and surprisingly, quite approachable -- migratory shorebirds that can be easily found on Vancouver beaches in the coldest winter months. This one was foraging on the shoreline. Photographed on a very sunny and busy winter afternoon at Boundary Bay Regional Park.
