Ripened Unedo Arbutus Strawberry Tree Fruit Postcard

Although they will bear a resemblance to lychee, unedo berries can be eaten whole, peel and all. It takes a full year for the flowers of the strawberry plant (arbutus) tree to transform and ripen into these fruits. The flesh is bright yellow, while the exterior--which starts off as a pale green hue--eventually evolves to yellow and then red. Photographed in October 2016.
