One of many diminutive but approachable Sanderlings who were "patrolling" the shoreline of Centennial Beach on a cold winter's day. Sanderlings are tiny -- and surprisingly, quite approachable -- migratory shorebirds which can be easily found on Vancouver beaches in the coldest winter months.
