Despite the absence of bright, vivid feathers, Bushtits are such colorful characters. Although virtually identical in coloration and size, the light-eyed females are easily distinguishable from the dark-eyed males. These small but sprightly songbirds flock to seed-bearing trees and bushes as well as backyard suet feeders. This guy was calling attention to himself at Boundary Bay's Centennial Beach on an otherwise uneventful day of birding.
