An overcast day is best for capturing the scintillating pink balaclava of the Anna's hummingbird, but that doesn't mean the subject will be any closer! This is the adult male who was given the ouster/bill/boot by a visiting female Rufous hummingbird a few weeks ago. He has since returned, and she is now the visitor. He's sitting on the old plum tree and giving the photographer the eyeball.
