Here is a photo of one of the chicks I hatched out a few weeks ago in the incubator.  She is feathering in a really pretty gray color.  The nest is one I found in my yard this winter that a bird had used some of our horse's hair in.  I then put some of my Button Quail eggs (empty of course so they don't spoil) in it and sprayed it with a clear gloss protective coat to keep it as an indoor decoration.  I thought the nest would look cute with the chick for a few photos.

One of my Easter Egger chicks.  Easter Eggers are chickens that lay blue, green, or pink eggs.  They are not a recognized show breed but they are fun to have around for the fun colors of eggs.  This one hatched from a green egg.

This is one of the four colored plates in the Book, "Rainy Day Stories" Subtitled "A Collection of Poems and Stories for Boys and Girls"  which includes 4 colored plates.  It was published by The Saalfield Publishing Company Chicago *Akron, Ohio * New York in 1915 which therefor makes it in the public domain.  I bought the book just for this image that I really like.  Be on the lookout in the future for more images from the book.
