About Google search statistics

You may have seen the "Google" section of the Product > Insights page:

Wondering how we get this information? We have an account with Google dedicated to search engine optimization (SEO) for this site. This gives us access to detailed information that is only available to us using the Google Search Console (GSC).

But with this account Google also gives us the option to read this data in via their API. So each day we download updates about every page on this website up through the previous day. We import impressions (search results), clicks, and average position in search results. During the import we link each URL Google reports to the specific products and other things so we can quickly generate stats later.

We do not get information about who did the searches. Just these aggregate stats. But this information is a gold mine for us. And we make it available to Zazzlers for free.
