I witnessed a beautiful moment of friendship between these two gorgeous chestnut horses. Were they mother and child; siblings; or simply stablemates? It didn't matter what their relationship to each other was. The importance was the now of the moment. Not even a nicker did I hear pass between them; the simple act of touching spoke volumes for both.

This golden cultivar of alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas, grows tall and looks great as flower bed plants. Alstroemeria are hardy, breathtaking perennials that bloom from late spring through early summer.

Community gardens are a wonderful place to see not just veggies and fruits, but a great variety of beautiful flowers. These beardless purple irises caught my eye at Richmond's Terra Nova Rural Park in late spring 2015.

Seafood dining at its best! One of five Black Oystercatchers we spotted on a windy, cloudy day at the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty over the Great Backyard Bird Count 2017 (Feb 17-20) weekend. The fishing (clamming?) was good ... these shorebirds were hauling in clam after clam after clam!

WWN Beautiful Dreamy & Serene Snowy Owl

I missed seeing one of these tiny plovers in the summer, but my subject, in its non-breeding plumage, is no less beautiful for it! A rare sight for this time of the year (usually these dainty-looking shorebirds are already wintering along the coasts of the Southwestern U.S., Central America, and South America), this Semipalmated Plover was frequenting the shores of Boundary Bay at Centennial Beach during high tide, in (almost) mid-December, along with a flock of Dunlins and Sanderlings on a surprisingly sunny (and warm-for-almost-winter) day.
