The New York State Flag was adopted on April 2, 1901. It features a blue background with the state's coat of arms, officially adopted in 1778. The coat of arms includes a sun symbol, two supporters, and the motto "Excelsior" ("Ever upward") on a ribbon. Below the sun, there is a depiction of the Hudson River.

The flag of Missouri displays a horizontal tricolor of red, white, and blue. The Great Seal of Missouri is centered on the three bands. The Seal is surrounded by a broad blue band with 24 white stars. Two bears, symbolizing Missouri's native bears, support the center shield. A scroll carries the state motto, "Salus populi suprema lex esto", which is a Latin phrase that means "Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law."

The New Mexico state flag consists of a yellow field (background) with a Zia Indian sun in red as its central symbol. Officially adopted on March 15, 1925.

California's state flag features a single red star in the top corner, a red stripe along the bottom, and a depiction of a California grizzly bear on a patch of green grass against a white background.

The New Jersey State Flag was adopted on May 11, 1896. It has a buff (light tan) background, with the state seal in the center. The design was created by Pierre Eugène Du Simitière and presented in May of 1777. The horse head on the seal symbolizes speed and strength, while the forward-facing helmet of a knight's suit of armor represents the sovereignty of a state that governs itself.

The flag of Nevada was adopted in 1991. It features a bright blue field with the state's emblem in the upper corner. The emblem consists of a large white star with the phrase "Battle Born" above it, which signifies the state's history of joining the Union during the Civil War. Below the star is the state name, "NEVADA," with sprigs of Goldenrod displayed underneath.

The Alaska State Flag has eight gold stars forming the Big Dipper and Polaris. The North Star symbolizes Alaska's future and northern location. A dark blue background and the North Star symbolize Alaska's future and northern location.

The flag of Indiana consists of a blue field with a golden or buff torch in the center. The torch is surrounded by lines that radiate outwards and nineteen five-pointed stars. The outer ring contains thirteen stars, while the inner ring has five stars, and there is one larger star located above the torch.
