This soft red male northern cardinal waits his turn at the nearby feeder in a local park in early fall. His autumn colors are subdued compared to his bright feathers in mid-summer, and his extra plumage for winter warmth has made him just a bit more plump as well. 

This red bird amongst the leaves looks content and brings a smile to my face. I hope he will do the same for you!

Usually I spot bumble bees on or near flowers, so this soft yellow bee on a large green leaf caught my eye. He was surrounded by interesting shadows from the foliage around him, and he himself created a shadow on the leaf. I love the effect his transparent wings create on the green background.

Singing on a bare branch on a late winter day, a blue, black and white tufted titmouse makes an adorable sight. Though he is small, the titmouse is not too shy about boldly singing his tune or visiting the local feeder. Playful and friendly, this little bird is definitely a favorite!

This Tiger Swallowtail butterfly spent quite a bit of time in my backyard last summer enjoying the native Joe Pye Weed, and on this day, I was able to capture this pollinator as he moved from bloom to bloom gathering nectar from the plant.

I love the colors in this beautiful photograph and hope that it will provide you with the cheerful feel of sunshine that butterflies love!

This cute squirrel discovered the birdseed I had set out for ground-feeding birds like cardinals and doves! I just couldn't help myself--he was too darn cute, and I didn't have the heart to chase him away. 

So today, I just set out extra for the four-legged friends who like to raid the feeders, and the makeshift feeding areas, I have scattered around my yard!
