This beautiful yellow and black bumble bee on a large green leaf caught my eye. He was surrounded by interesting shadows from the foliage around him, yet he had found a warm spot in the sun. In fact, he himself created a shadow on the leaf, and I love the effect his transparent wings create on the green background.

I photographed this adorable chipmunk one day on my backyard steps as he came to eat some seeds I'd left nearby. His little paws looked like they were asking nicely for some more. Who could resist?

I photographed this cardinal one day in my backyard during the summer, but by cutting him out and placing him in front of a second photo of my pine tree and adding a filter, he fits the winter scene beautifully! Cardinals do visit my yard during winter and I sometimes photograph them during the season, but this bright red male is one of my favorite I've captured of the bird, and I wanted to share it with you.
