Lake Aleknagik Postcard

Interesting clouds on the horizon over Lake Aleknagik. The twenty-mile long lake is the start of a vast system of lakes (most in the Wood-Tikchik State Park) that are spawning grounds that help supports Bristol Bay's huge salmon run. The lake is a short drive from Dillingham, Alaska. On Lake Aleknagik's southeast short you'll find the small village of Aleknagik. Residents in that village boat over to the road in the summer, or drive across an ice road in the winter.
