Eskimo Nebula Postcard

This image is thanks to the Hubble program. The Eskimo Nebula is only about 5,000 light-years from Earth, and was first noted and named in 1787 by William Herschel. I wouldn't mind seeing the nebula with a ground-based telescope so I could see how it looks like a face surrounded by a parka's fur ruff. Speaking of Eskimos ... that would be me. My grandmother was Russian-Eskimo. You'll note there are a lot of Alaskan-themed products in this gallery.
