Stimming, short for "self-stimulatory behavior," refers to repetitive physical movements, sounds, or behaviors that some individuals engage in, often as a way to self-soothe, manage sensory input, or express emotions. Stimming is most commonly associated with individuals on the autism spectrum, but it can also be seen in people with other neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as neurotypical individuals under certain circumstances, such as when they are anxious or stressed. Stimming is nothing to be ashamed of, let Stimmers just be.
