Quick help
The wild African cheetah portrait on mosaic is a remarkable feline known for being the fastest land animal, capable of reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Characterized by its slender, lightweight body, the cheetah has a distinctive coat covered in black spots on a tawny background. Its long legs, flexible spine, and enlarged adrenal glands are key adaptations for sprinting. Unlike other big cats, cheetahs have black "tear marks" that run from the inner corners of their eyes down to the sides of their mouths, which help reduce glare from the sun and enhance focus on prey. They primarily inhabit grasslands, savannas, and open plains across sub-Saharan Africa, where they hunt during daylight hours using their incredible speed to chase down antelopes and other small to medium-sized ungulates.
