This design features an original pen and ink drawing of a roadrunner (also known as a chaparral bird) scratching at the ground, based on the roadrunners seen in the shrubland around the artist's southwestern home. The background colors and geometric patterns were inspired by the purple and green sagebrush, chaparral, scrub juniper and pinon in the area.
